Southern Indiana Eats N Treats Feature - October/November 2017: Rockey's Dock Seafood
Rockey’s Dock Seafood has proven to be a staple in Southern Indiana serving the community for the past 21 years. Although it wasn’t always known as Rockey’s Dock Seafood, owner Sandra Rockey has been working for the restaurant since May of 1977. Sandra and her husband live in Southern Indiana, which indeed makes Rockey’s Dock Seafood locally owned and operated. Formerly known as Dock’s Seafood, Rockey’s Dock Seafood currently has three convenient locations in Jeffersonville, New Albany and Corydon.
Although all three locations are the same business, “they are all very different,” Sandra said. For instance, the Jeffersonville restaurant gets a huge lunch rush while the Corydon location gets a huge dinner rush, and the New Albany location just stays busy. Different crowds, different staff, same hospitality.
For the past 21 years, Rockey’s Dock Seafood has been aiming to provide the best seafood product for as affordable as possible. The prices at Rockey’s Dock Seafood are just unbeatable! It’s hard to find quality food for low prices these days, especially seafood.
Rockey’s Dock Seafood is known for, you guessed it, their fish. All of their fish is hand-breaded, not battered. Their onion rings are also a popular item at all three locations. They are not only hand-breaded, but homemade as well – not frozen! If you’re looking for a meal for you and another person, you might want to try their Box-for-Two. It comes with five 4-ounce filets, two orders of fries, four pieces of bread and two hush puppies. If you’re going to order the Box-for-Two, you better bring your appetite! “It’s huge. It will feed at least two people, probably more than that,” Sandra said. No matter what you order at Rockey’s Dock Seafood, you are sure to leave full and happy! All the food made at Rockey’s Dock Seafood is made to order and cooked fresh. It never sits under a heat lamp, so you know that you’re getting the best quality.
It seems that Rockey’s Dock Seafood is taking over Southern Indiana! Here in the next couple years or so, they will be expanding to Salem. You will be able to get fresh, made-to-order seafood no matter where you are in Southern Indiana! The Salem location is going to be a brand new store – built from the ground up.
Rockey’s Dock Seafood is grateful for each and every one of their customers, but Sandra says it’s the regulars that have kept them alive. “Without our loyal customers, we would have failed a long time ago,” Sandra said.
A local joint that offers fresh fish and friendly staff, what more could you ask for? If you’re looking for a new lunch spot or a place for dinner, head over to Rockey’s Dock Seafood. You won’t regret your decision and you are sure to get the biggest bang for your buck.
