Southern Indiana Eats N Treats Feature - October/November 2017: Kobe Japanese Steakhouse
For 16 years now, Southern Indiana has been the home of Kobe Japanese Steakhouse in Jeffersonville. When Kobe first opened its doors to the public, Southern Indiana didn’t have anything like it in the area. Owner, Dee Balmorez has always had a passion for restaurants. “I wanted to open a place that allowed people to experience new food and cultures,” said Balmorez. She wanted to show customers that the world is much bigger than what we see in our Midwestern area.
The food cooked by the chefs at Kobe is all made to order, which means that it doesn’t sit around in food warmers. All the food is freshly made. At Kobe, you can find an array of items to fit your liking. Whether it is an appetizer, meat or sushi, Kobe has you covered. Some of their most popular items are their steak selections and of course, their sushi. One of the steaks that Kobe serves is a NY Strip cooked to your liking. The Filet Mignon offered is the chef’s choice center-cut tenderloin expertly grilled to your satisfaction. Finally, Kobe offers a wide array of sushi, but one of the most popular is their Waterfall Roll. The Waterfall Roll is made up of tempura shrimp, asparagus and spicy crab topped with crab, crunch, masago and three sauces. Kobe also offers a kid’s menu with delicious items, which consists of steak, chicken, shrimp and chicken nuggets. An ongoing special that Kobe offers daily is 10% off their appetizers every for lunch and dinner as well.
The décor and environment inside of Kobe offers a relaxing experience for every customer, but there is also a section where you can get in the middle of all of the excitement. If you are looking for a unique way to celebrate any occasion with a group, Kobe offers a hibachi grill area where you can have your food freshly prepared and cooked directly in front of you by a chef! So maybe the excitement doesn’t appeal to you – don’t worry! If you’re still looking for a place for a night out, but on a more relaxing scale, Kobe also offers a full bar with drink specials on the weekends!
Kobe is so much more than just your average Japanese steakhouse, it is a wonderful place for families to spend time together and enjoy the company around them. No matter what you are celebrating, Kobe is perfect for any occasion. However, the staff does ask that large parties make reservations before coming in. This will make it easier to accommodate and cater to your party’s needs. To make your reservations, call (812) 280-8500.
Kobe is conveniently located within walking distance of the Big Four Bridge on Southern Indiana Avenue in Jeffersonville. You can follow their updates on Facebook, as Dee has plans in the future for a patio which will offer outdoor seating. Coming up in December, Kobe will be celebrating their 17thanniversary. They are planning something extra special that we hope you won’t miss!
